Getting Started
NexoPlate is an AI-powered nutrition tracking app for iPhone. It lets you log food manually, scan barcodes, search millions of foods, and use AI to identify meals from photos. Pro subscribers also get access to NexoPlate Coach — a 24/7 AI nutrition coach.
No. NexoPlate does not require an account. All your data — food logs, goals, weight entries, and AI memories — is stored locally on your device. There is no sign-up, no password, and no cloud sync.
The free tier includes manual food logging, barcode scanning, food search, saved foods and meals, dashboard widgets, weight tracking, and streak tracking. NexoPlate Pro adds AI Photo Entry, NexoPlate Coach, and the Coach Dashboard Widget.
Open the Settings tab in the app and scroll to the Goals section. You can set your daily calorie target and individual macro targets for protein, carbs, and fat. Your progress is shown on the dashboard and log view.
Open the Log tab, find the entry, and swipe left on the row to reveal Edit and Delete options. You can adjust calories, macros, serving size, or remove the entry entirely.
Yes. On the Log screen, tap the date at the top to switch to any past day, then add food as normal. The entry will be timestamped to that day.
When adding or editing a food, tap the serving size field to adjust. NexoPlate stores foods at a base 1-serving value and scales calories and macros automatically based on the multiplier you choose.
After logging a food, tap the Save icon to add it to Saved Foods. To save a combination of foods as a complete meal, log all the foods, then tap Save Meal — they'll be available in Saved Meals for one-tap re-logging.
On the Add Food screen, tap Manual Entry. Enter a name, calories, and macros for one serving. You can then save it as a custom food for future logging.
Yes. NexoPlate reads steps and active calories from Apple Health to display alongside your food log. We do not write any data back to Apple Health. You can enable HealthKit access from Settings → Connect to Apple Health in the app, or manage permissions in your iPhone's Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
NexoPlate requires iOS 17 or later and runs on any iPhone that supports it.
NexoPlate runs on iPad in iPhone compatibility mode. A dedicated iPad-optimized version is not available yet.
Not currently. NexoPlate is iPhone-only at this time. We don't have an Apple Watch app, and we don't have an Android version.
Manual food logging, saved foods and meals, weight tracking, and your dashboard all work offline. AI Photo Entry and NexoPlate Coach require an active internet connection because they communicate with our AI servers in real time. Barcode scanning and food search work best online but may use cached results when offline.

Managing Your Subscription
NexoPlate Pro is available on two platforms:

Website (Stripe): $19.99/month or $79.99/year (just $6.67/month) — best value.
App Store: $22.99/month or $91.99/year.

App Store pricing is higher because Apple takes a commission of up to 30% on every subscription sold through the App Store. We adjust the App Store price to offset that fee, which is why subscribing directly through our website costs less for the exact same Pro features.

Both plans include a 7-day free trial on either platform. You won't be charged until the trial ends.
Tap Start Free Trial on the paywall in the app or visit our pricing page on the website. Select your plan, complete payment, and your 7-day trial begins immediately. You won't be charged unless you keep the subscription after the trial ends.
You get full Pro access immediately — AI Photo Entry, NexoPlate Coach, and the Coach Dashboard Widget. You won't be charged anything during the trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay nothing. If you don't cancel, you'll be charged for whichever plan you selected on day 8.
Yes — that's how the trial works. If you don't want to be charged, cancel before day 7. App Store users cancel through iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → NexoPlate. Web subscribers can email support@nexoplate.com or use our contact form.
App Store subscribers: Go to your iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → NexoPlate and tap Cancel Subscription. Your access continues until the end of the billing period.

Web subscribers (Stripe): Email support@nexoplate.com or use our contact form and we'll cancel immediately.
Yes. App Store users can change plans through iPhone Settings → Subscriptions → NexoPlate. Web subscribers can email support@nexoplate.com or use our contact form to switch.
App Store purchases: Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund.

Web purchases: We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods. Access codes that have been redeemed are non-refundable. If you have not yet redeemed your code, contact us at support@nexoplate.com or via our contact form.
Nothing is deleted. Your food log, weight history, saved foods and meals, goals, and free tier features all stay exactly as they were. You'll just lose access to AI Photo Entry, NexoPlate Coach, and the Coach Dashboard Widget.
When your subscription ends, Pro features (AI Photo Entry, NexoPlate Coach, and Coach Dashboard Widget) are no longer accessible. All your free tier features and your existing food logs remain untouched. Nothing is deleted.
🔑
Redeeming an Access Code
After purchasing on our website, your access code is automatically emailed to the address you used at checkout. Check your spam or junk folder if you don't see it. The email comes from support@nexoplate.com. If you still can't find it after 10 minutes, contact us at support@nexoplate.com or via our contact form.
There are two places to redeem your code:

First-time users: After completing the intro, you'll see the paywall. Tap Redeem Access Code at the bottom of the paywall and enter your code.

Existing users (or if you skipped the paywall): Open the Settings tab and tap Redeem Access Code.

Codes look like NP-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Enter it exactly as shown in your email and tap Redeem — Pro unlocks instantly.
No. Each access code is single-use and tied to one device when activated. Sharing or distributing your code violates our Terms of Service and may result in your access being revoked without refund.
App Store subscribers: Install NexoPlate on your new device, sign in to the same Apple ID you used to purchase, then tap Restore Purchases on the paywall. Your Pro access reactivates automatically.

Access code subscribers: Codes are bound to the device you originally redeemed on for security. To move to a new device, contact us at support@nexoplate.com or via our contact form from the email address you used at checkout. Include your access code and we'll release it so you can redeem it on your new phone. We typically respond within 24 hours.
Each access code can only be active on one device at a time.

If you're seeing this on the device where you originally redeemed the code, something may have gone wrong with activation — contact us at support@nexoplate.com or via our contact form with your code and we'll fix it.

If you're trying to use the code on a new device, your code is still tied to your old phone. Reach out from your purchase email address with your code and we'll release it so you can redeem it again.
AI Photo Entry & NexoPlate Coach
Tap the camera icon in the Add Food screen, take a photo of your meal, and NexoPlate's AI will identify the food items and estimate calories and macros. You can review and adjust the results before saving. Photos are processed in real time and not stored on our servers.
AI Photo Entry provides estimates based on visual recognition. Accuracy depends on photo quality, portion size visibility, and meal complexity. We recommend reviewing and adjusting estimates — especially for mixed dishes or restaurant meals. AI estimates are approximations, not precise measurements.
NexoPlate Coach is your personal AI nutrition coach available 24/7. Ask it anything about your diet, get meal suggestions, understand your macros, or get motivation. It learns your preferences over time through AI memories stored on your device.
Yes. You can ask the Coach to log food, weight, edit or delete entries, save foods and meals, or update your goals. Before any action that changes your data, the Coach will ask for confirmation — nothing is logged until you tap to approve.
The Coach Dashboard Widget is a Pro-only widget that shows you a daily insight from NexoPlate Coach right on your dashboard — typically a short headline, a supporting note, and a button to open the full chat. It updates based on your recent food log, goals, and progress.
Each time you launch the app, the Coach starts a fresh chat session. Your AI memories (preferences, goals, etc.) carry over, but the message history doesn't. This is intentional — it keeps responses focused and avoids bogging the Coach down with old context.
NexoPlate Coach is an AI assistant for general nutrition guidance and is not a substitute for medical or dietary advice from a licensed professional. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making significant changes to your diet or health routine.
AI memories are brief notes the Coach saves about your preferences and goals to personalize responses over time. They are stored only on your device — never on our servers. To view or delete them go to Settings → Memory Settings inside the app.
🔒
Data & Privacy
All your personal data — food logs, weight entries, goals, saved foods, and AI memories — is stored exclusively on your device. We do not have cloud storage or user accounts. Your data never leaves your device except for real-time AI feature requests which are immediately discarded after processing.
Only AI feature requests. When you take a photo for AI Photo Entry, the image is sent to our AI provider for analysis and immediately discarded. When you message NexoPlate Coach, your message and relevant context (recent food log, your goals, your AI memories) are sent for the response, then discarded. We don't store these requests with your identity. Everything else — your food log, weight, goals — never leaves your device.
All your data will be permanently deleted from your device. Because we do not store your data on our servers, we cannot recover it. We strongly recommend enabling iCloud Backup before deleting the app. Go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup on your iPhone.
Data export is on our roadmap but not yet available. If you need a copy of your data for a specific reason, contact us at support@nexoplate.com or via our contact form.
Because NexoPlate stores data only on your device, uninstalling the app deletes everything. There's nothing on our servers tied to your identity. If you need a formal response for compliance purposes, email legal@nexoplate.com.
No. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Never. HealthKit data is used solely to display information within the app. It is never used for advertising, analytics, or shared with data brokers. This is in accordance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines.
🛠
Troubleshooting
Try closing the app fully and reopening it. If the issue persists, restart your iPhone. If entries are missing after an update, check that iCloud Backup was enabled before the update. Unfortunately if data was not backed up we are unable to recover it.
Make sure you have an active internet connection — AI Photo Entry needs to reach our servers to analyze the image. Check that camera permissions are enabled in your iPhone's Settings → NexoPlate → Camera. If the feature still doesn't work, try closing and reopening the app, or take a clearer photo with better lighting.
AI estimates are based on visual recognition and assume average portion sizes. For mixed dishes, restaurant meals, or anything where the portion isn't visible (sauces, dressings, hidden ingredients), the estimate may be off. Tap any item in the result to adjust calories, macros, or servings before saving.
The Coach requires an active internet connection. Check your connection and try again. If the issue persists, try closing and reopening the app. If you're still having problems, contact us at support@nexoplate.com or via our contact form.
This is intentional. NexoPlate Coach won't change your data without your explicit approval — every action (logging food, updating goals, deleting entries) shows a confirmation tap before it executes. This keeps you in full control.
App Store subscribers: Tap Restore Purchases on the paywall screen. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID used to purchase.

Access code subscribers: Try closing and reopening the app — your activation is stored locally and should reload on launch. If Pro still isn't showing, contact us at support@nexoplate.com or via our contact form with your access code and we'll investigate. (Note: Restore Purchases does not apply to access codes — that button only works for App Store subscriptions.)
NexoPlate searches the USDA food database first, with Open Food Facts as a fallback. If a barcode isn't in either database, the product just isn't catalogued yet. Try searching by food name instead, or use Manual Entry to add it yourself. You can save it as a custom food for easy access next time.
Barcode lookups pull from public databases (USDA and Open Food Facts), which can occasionally have older data than what's currently on the package. If the database is wrong, you can edit the entry to match the label and save it as a custom food for next time.
NexoPlate doesn't write food data into Apple Health — we only read steps and active calories from it. If you want your nutrition data in Apple Health, you'll need to log it there separately for now.
Streaks require at least one food entry per calendar day. If you missed a day, the streak resets. We don't manually restore streaks. The streak on your dashboard updates the moment you log your first food of the day.
First, confirm the date selector at the top is set to the day you expect. If the totals still look off, check your individual entries — long-press one to see the underlying values. Each food stores a base 1-serving value and a serving multiplier; adjusting the multiplier scales everything proportionally.
